5 Simple Steps That Will Help You Find Your Life Purpose
Feeling unmotivated, directionless, and unsure of yourself? You’re not alone. Most of us have no clue what we want to do with our lives. Even after we finish school, get a job, and make real money. It’s a struggle almost every adult goes through. “What do I want to do with my life?” “What do I not suck at?” Knowing your life purpose is energizing—it provides you with the determination to stay motivated. It is also the key to experiencing lasting happiness in your life.
What if you could discover your life purpose and do something that you’re passionate about, something you’ll be remembered for. Frankly, you can: all it takes is a little digging to uncover what it is. There aren’t going to be any billboards or flashing neon signs that light the way. You’ve got to figure this out on your own, but we can help get you started.
Identify Your Natural Strengths to Find Your Life Purpose
Pay attention to the areas that come naturally to you. Ask yourself, “What am I good at?” and write those qualities down. Pay attention to the way others compliment you. These usually point you in the direction of purpose for your life.
What are You Passionate About?
What do you love to do, that you would do even if you didn’t get paid for it? Try connecting with your inner child. Think about what brought you immense happiness as a kid. Whether you painted works of stick-figure art or played doctor on your stuffed animals, what did you love deep before the world told you to get practical?
Tune Out the Unbelievers
Make the strongest voice in your life your own. Finding your purpose could mean going against the advice of close friends and family. Take a leap of faith and trust in yourself.
Make a Long-Term Plan
Long-term plans can help you make the best day-to-day decisions, both personally and professionally. If you know where you eventually want to be, long-term planning can help you determine the steps you need to get there and helps you stay focused. Give yourself some time to think and put into writing a simple and strategic plan.
Take the First Step
Your dreams won’t come true until you are willing to step out of your comfort zone. Get prepared to make changes and start making them! It takes courage to think about changing your life, much less to put that plan into action.
Try to let go of the negative thoughts that are holding you back from achieving your life purpose. Instead, try some of these steps and do something each week that moves you closer to your dreams. Once that sweet spot is identified you won’t have a job or even a career. You’ll have a life purpose.
